Frequently Asked Questions
How do we get started?
Soooo...you've got a venue, a photographer, and you've already started thinking about cake (who isn't!) but how do you actually get married? First, things first, you contact me! Email or call to arrange an online, no-obligation meeting to see if I'm the right celebrant for you. I'll talk you through the legalities, how I approach creating a ceremony and answer any questions at all that you might have. It's also a great chance for me to get a feel for what you have in mind for your wedding day.
Will you help with our Notice of Intended Marriage?
Of course! Both parties to the marriage will need to complete a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) and submit it to me no later than one month prior to the wedding and no longer than 18 months prior. I'll talk you through this process in our initial catch up.
What documents will I need to get married?
Prior to the wedding I will need to sight original copies of the following documents from both parties: *Birth Certificate OR Passport *Photo identification such as a driver's licence or passport *Proof of termination of any previous marriages There might be other documents depending on your circumstances.
What do you charge?
I have a variety of wedding ceremony packages available ranging from $400 to $999. You can view the options on the Packages page of this site or email me for a quote. If you have any questions at all about the package options or would like to arrange an online, obligation free catch up to find out if I'm the right celebrant for you then please don't hesitate to contact me. A $200 deposit will be due upon booking, after your first obligation-free meeting, with the remainder due one month prior to the event.
What do I do if my documents aren't in english?
Documents in a foreign language will need to be translated by a NAATI accredited translator.
Where can I find out more about marriage in Australia, pre-marital counselling, or what to do if I have a complaint?
The Attorney-General's department has lots of very useful information on their website and we will talk through these in you initial meeting also.
